Fused glass jewelry workshop

$35.00 after 2/28/20

This class requires two Saturdays to complete the jewelry.

Looking for a unique gift for Mother’s Day? Why not create your own mini work of art perfect for your mom or yourself! You will learn how to create beautiful works of wearable art by layering art glass and fusing the glass in a kiln. Each student will make 2 from the following choices; pendant, pin or pair of earrings. The first class is 2 1/2 hours long and begins with an introduction of glass fusing with a kiln, and instructions on glass cutting and equipment usage. The remainder of the class is spent choosing and layering glass. At the next session, we will add bails, earring wires, posts, or pins to our finished pieces. If you are unable to attend the second session, Jill will finish your jewelry for you.

This popular class is tailored to beginners and advanced students.
Cost includes all project supplies, use of equipment, kiln firing and art glass.

About the instructor: Jill Groves has been working in fused glass since 2010. After a 35-year career in the United States Postal Service, Jill established her Fremont, OH studio, Manor Ridge Creations. She shows and sells her work at various art shows, galleries, online, and accepts commissioned work. She has attended glass art workshops at Delphi Glass in Lansing, MI, Toledo Museum of Art, Toledo OH, the Arrowmont School of Arts & Crafts, Gatlinburg TN, and Glass Craft & Bead Expo, Las Vegas NV. She loves to experiment with the effects of heat on glass and has shared her knowledge through teaching fused glass techniques for the past 8 years at Terra Community College, Fremont OH, Schedel Arboretum & Gardens, Tiffin Art Guild, & The Art Junction in New Haven among others.

Family Art Day

Join us as we build some community, make some art and celebrate the Christmas season together.

On Saturday, December 14, 2019 drop by The Art Junction between the hours of 10:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and create your own hand-made candy cane Christmas tree ornament out of sculpey clay.

In one Saturday morning using a few hand-building skills, families can create their own Christmas tree ornament together to celebrate the season.

Cost is a canned food donation for each family member to the Willard Food Bank!
Enjoy family crafts and a free lunch next door at the New Haven United Methodist Church at Family Art Day.

Remember Art is “for the doing” and for “learning through the doing.” Join us in the process of creating a better community together through the doing.

Soap Making

Everyone had fun at the soap-making workshop held at the Art Junction this autumn.

There were many wonderful smells from the soap, hand lotion and perfume that was created.

The participants learned how to create scented soap using many new ideas and techniques from instructor Sue Wolfe.

The soap-making workshop was full of wonderful new ideas, aromas and fun.

Instructor Sue Wolfe, owner of Kait-Tana Soaps,  demonstrated to participants on how to create two bars of soap.

Kevin Wolfe assisted the instructor as he helped prepare the soap-making process.

  Everyone enjoyed the workshop.  Maybe you can join us for our upcoming winter workshops.

Fused glass jewelry

The Art Junction hosted our first fused glass workshop this fall.

Jill Groves led this wonderful workshop, instructing the participants on how to create jewelry.

Jill demonstrated the process as she showed the class how to begin.

Students viewed examples of Jill’s work as they decided what type of jewelry they wished to create.

There were many types and colors of glass to choose from.

The creative process began as students cut their glass.

There were many wonderful ideas explored in this workshop.

The last step was to put backings on the necklaces and ear rings.

This was a wonderful workshop where everyone was able to put their own personalized touches on their own fused glass jewelry.  I hope you can join us for our next fused glass workshop in March.

BEGINNING FUSED GLASS-JEWELRY

2 Sessions

Saturday, October 25, 2014 from 10 am – 1 pm

         & Saturday, November 8, 2014 from 10 am – 11 am  

Discover the basics of glass fusing over 2 classes with Jill Groves.

You will learn how to create beautiful works of wearable art by layering art glass and fusing the glass in a kiln.

No experience with glass is required for this course, which is recommended for beginners.
