Hare-raising Art!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

The Wednesday afternoon art class created some wonderful rabbit images this spring.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

The first step was to create the background as the girls added stripes of various tints to their images.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

While waiting for the background to dry, students drew their rabbits with pencil using basic shapes  and then outlined with a marker.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

It was a lot of fun creating the rabbit and exaggerating many different features on the drawing.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

The next step was to cut out the rabbit.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

The final step was to put together the image and the background by gluing them.

Everyone had fun and enjoyed their creation!

Expressive painting class -week 4

DSCN9005

Week four found the painting group exploring new methods of painting.

DSCN9007

It was very exciting to see the group become engaged in the creative process and push their paintings into exciting new areas.

DSCN9009

This has been a very exciting class to teach.  I’ve enjoyed their imagination and spirit of adventure in painting.

Expressive painting class -week 2

DSCN8816

Participants in the expressive painting class really began to explore many different ways to use paint to express an idea or theme.

DSCN8815

By the end of class everyone had begun to loosen up and try some new painting ideas to begin to bring their thoughts and ideas to life on their canvas.

Art Camp Jr.

DSCN8832

Art Camp Jr. was held this past week, and all of the kids enjoyed our theme of bugs.

100_4487

On the first day of camp everyone explored building their own imaginary bug out of found objects in the Art Junction.  The second day, campers worked on painting and designing their bugs.

DSCN8820

Campers also created chalk art bugs using many new techniques.

DSCN8840

Campers also used watercolor paint to begin a bug painting.

DSCN8839

Adding marker to the watercolor design, campers defined their images with strong lines.

Picasso said that “every child is an artist.  The problem is how to remain an artist once they grow up.”  I think I know the answer: continue to make art with kids.

100_4528

Finally we explored mixing primary and secondary colors with paint scrapers.

100_4521

Everyone enjoyed the action and texture created with scrapers and paints.

Art Camp Jr. was a wonderful time of exploration, creativity and plain old fun!

Drawing Lab -Week 3

DSCN6954

Week 3 found the participants exploring drawing and collage as they combined these two elements together.

DSCN6953

Participants began with a small image to glue to their drawing, and they used it as a starting point for their exploration in drawing.

DSCN6952

Beginning with a drawing prompt is a great way to start a creative investigation which can be a fun method to jump-start the drawing process.

DSCN6950

All of the participants enjoyed this new exercise in creativity.

DSCN6956

Maybe you can join us in a future creative expedition at the Art Junction.

Drawing Lab -Week 2

DSCN6833

This week we again focused on the fun in drawing.

DSCN6826

Beginning with some watercolor lines and squiggles, participants began the experimentation into artistic discovery.

DSCN6825

The next step was to find some line, pattern or design to begin the process.

DSCN6829

Participants began to add pencil, pen and marker to their watercolor lines to develop an imaginative image.

DSCN6834

This fun exercise, although challenging, encouraged the creative juices to flow.

DSCN6832

It was fun to build off of others’ ideas and to begin with a few random strokes of watercolor.

DSCN6837

If drawing scares you…maybe you need to come to the drawing lab to let your creative self loose!

Drawing Lab -Week 1

DSCN6672

Drawing Lab began last week with a session of exploration and imagination.

DSCN6670

Using lines and scribbles as a beginning point participants were looking to have fun with the drawing experience…following the creative trail on its imaginative journey.

DSCN6668

Curious images appeared from various collaborations.

DSCN6671

Simple tools were used as a fun time of creative exploration was embarked upon.  Wish you could have joined in the fun…maybe next time!
