FUSED-GLASS-Holiday Ornaments

Saturday, November 5, 2016 10 a.m. – 12 noon 

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

  Discover the basics of glass fusing with Jill Groves. Bring a friend for some extra fun! Each student will select a design for their projects, chose from a variety of glass colors and types, cut their glass and assemble their patterns to create 2 beautiful ornaments in this 2-hour class.

Sample patterns will be available or you can bring your own! Patterns should be sized to a minimum of 1.5” x 2” or maximum of 4” x 4”. This class is geared to all skill levels from beginner to advanced.

Finished work will be available for pick-up 2 weeks after the class. Cost includes all project supplies, use of equipment, kiln firing and art glass.

11807433_10205071152673666_2362742363132859771_oThe Super Summer Art Exhibition is composed of 40 works by 17 local, area and regional artists and includes paintings, sculptures, watercolors, pastels, digital art, and photography.

Eight prizes were awarded from the Huron County Community Library on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the opening of this year’s exhibit: 1st place in drawing was David Wolff of Collins with 2nd place going to Lauren Brown of Willard; 1st place in abstract art was Mark Fisher of Norwalk with 2nd going to David Wolff of Collins and 3rd place to Karen Wilson of New Haven; 1st place in realistic art went to Gloria Predmore of Willard, 2nd place to Char French of Norwalk and 3rd place to Terry Anderson of Willard; 1st place in photography/digital was Sandy Power of Norwalk, 2nd place was Benjamin White of Willard and 3rd place was Sabrina Brandenburg of Orrville; 1st place in youth art was Courtney Taylor of Willard and 2nd place was Lauren Wood of Willard; 1st place in 3D art was William Foster of Willard and 2nd place was Benjamin White of Willard; and with Honorable Mentions in craft were Kylie Gahr and Jeannie Snay, both of Willard.

Best of Show went to David Wolff of Collins for his drawing titled “Disappointment” and a Judge’s Award went to Alec Casto of Willard for his mixed media painting “Untitled”.

 Juror Lynda Stoneham commented on the wonderful mix of media and styles from local and area artists. “It was nice to see an exhibit that includes amateur and professional artwork together! It’s a great way to encourage all artists and give the public a wide view of visual art in our area.”

In the spring of 2012 we offered a class in paper mache pottery.  The students had a great time exploring a non-traditional method of building using unique materials.

Fading Into The Past by Jim Funk

This is the last weekend to stop by and view the exhibition: Willard, Ohio…Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow.

Friday and Saturday evening from 4:30 – 7:00 pm at the Art Junction.  This is a great opportunity to view the images of 10 area photographers.  Come and experience the Willard area through new eyes, exploring the Firelands, as you may not have seen them before, from traditional to digital and manipulated photographic images.  Sharing and exploring the beauty of your community awakens your senses to the environment we live in which most of us take for granted.  Come view this exciting new exhibition!
