Art of the name

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Wednesday afternoon art class for older students was spent creating a graphic lettering project for several weeks.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Students used marker to create the letters of their name in several different sizes and styles.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

The next step was to cut apart their project into squares.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Next students arranged the pieces of their design that they wished to use on an 8″x10″ piece of cardboard.

The shapes were adhered to the cardboard with matte medium.

Finally students applied white acrylic and black marker to create an abstracted version of their name.

Everyone approached their project in a different way as they added more or less detail to their beginning ideas.

Here are some examples of the students work.

Autumn landscape

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Wednesday afternoon art classes created a mixed media landscape recently.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

After using watercolor paint for a background, students employed ink for trees and a landscape.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

This required concentration and learning to control the brush.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

The final step was to add bright leaf color with sponges.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Everyone enjoyed this project and the opportunity to use many types of media.

The final results were very nice as well!  Maybe you can join us for Wednesday afternoon art classes this winter?

Thank-you!
