Linda Kirgis led the beginning basket weaving workshop at the Art Junction recently.
This workshop had participants of all ages from first graders to adults.
There were many steps in learning the process of creating a basket.
This was a fun, challenging and enjoyable Saturday morning as everyone learned something new.
This was a very hands-on project as everyone learned the true meaning of creating a craft.
A craft is a pastime or a profession that requires some particular kind of skilled work. In a historical sense, particularly as pertinent to the Middle Ages and earlier, the term is usually applied to people occupied in small-scale production of goods, or their maintenance, for example by tinkers. The traditional terms craftsman and craftswoman are nowadays often replaced by artisan and rarely by craftsperson (craftspeople).
I was impressed by everyone’s dedication, attention and skill as every participant finished a wonderful, unique basket.
We had a wonderful instructor and a great time of fellowship in the studio of the Art Junction.
If this workshop interests you, join us for our next basket workshop at the Art Junction later this year!
